March(ing) On! Looking Back and Forward

On February 1 I posted an update to share progress for accomplishing goals during the month of January and to look forward to the month of February. This post on March 1 is meant to do the same thing.

Today is March 1. We are 1/6 of the way through 2024. I have been reflecting on the month of February and what I shared in my "Let's Go(al)! Looking Back and Forward" update on February 1. Here is a brief update as well as my specific goals for March.

Yearly 252 Goals with Updates
1. Spiritual: Memorize the first two chapters of Philippians. Have read Philippians 1-2 every day this year and plan to read chapters 1-2 each day in March.
2. Physical: Complete a Half-Ironman in under 5 hours: Transitioned from establishing base miles (completed in January) to focusing on strength-training. I am registering for shorter races during the spring and summer to provide helpful milestones for training and benchmarks for progress.
3. Relational: Eat a one on one meal with each of my sons and my wife at least once a month. This has gone well and I look forward to continuing. Fleur gave birth to our third son (Sammy!) a few days ago so we will adjust as needed.
4. Intellectual: Write a reflection post here each week. This has gone well and I look forward to continuing.

Update on February-specific goals:
  • Read entire book of Colossians Done.
  • Read Philippians 1-2 Done.
  • Read at least one chapter of another book Done. Two days I read just a partial chapter.
  • Take Fish Oil, Magnesium, Vitamin C, Zinc, and Probiotics Done.
  • Drink Celsius energy drink Done.
  • 3 eggs+spinach for breakfast or fast. Done. Except for when in hospital for Sammy's birth.
  • Eat only protein shake for lunch (when at home and can prepare) Done.
  • Eat only one serving for dinner Done.
  • Eat only Hard-boiled egg or raw vegetables for snack Done.
  • Eat fruit only in protein shake at breakfast or lunch Done.
  • Avoid bread, rice, pasta, and simple carbs Done.
  • Drink 1 gallon of water Done.
  • Do some form of exercise Done.
  • Read/Listen to all wisdom literature: Psalms/Proverbs/Ecclesiastes/James Done.
  • Fast 12 meals during the month Only fasted 10 meals.
  • February 29 - Weight at 158 Done. Made it to 157 at one point.
  • 20 Days completing workout routine: Done.
    • 3 minutes of plank (5 by end of month)
    • 2 minutes hanging (5 by end of month)
    • 100 push-ups (150 by end of month)
    • Complete Weight-training / Stretching / Cardio

I'm thankful for the progress in February! Here are the daily goals for March:
  • Read at least three chapters of Ephesians
  • Read Philippians 1-2
  • Read/Listen to all Genesis, Exodus, and Leviticus during the month
  • Read at least one chapter of another book
  • Take Fish Oil, Magnesium, Vitamin C, Zinc, and Probiotics
  • Drink Celsius energy drink
  • Drink 1 gallon of water
  • Eat 3 eggs+spinach for breakfast or fast (optional protein shake)
  • Eat only one serving or a protein shake for lunch and dinner
  • Eat only hard-boiled egg or raw vegetables for snacks between meals
  • Eat fruit only in protein shake at breakfast/lunch/dinner or when preparing for workout
  • Generally avoid bread, rice, pasta, and simple carbs
  • Complete one-day fast
  • March 31 - Weight at 158
  • Do some form of exercise
  • 20 Days completing workout routine:
    • 3 minutes - plank
    • 2 minutes - hanging from bar
    • 150 push-ups
    • Complete Weight-training / Stretching / Cardio workout

We will see how the month goes!
