The short answer: Our hope isn’t found in this world; it’s found in the person and work of Jesus Christ. When our hearts are anchored in Him, we can face a broken world with confidence and shine as lights in it.

What we cover
A listener asked me, “How do you find hope in this hopeless world?” In this episode, I talk about why hope tied to circumstances rises and falls, how the gospel gives us an anchored and unchanging hope, and how that hope makes us lights in a dark world.

Common questions
Why does the world feel so hopeless? The world is broken, and if our hope is tied to circumstances, people, or outcomes, it will rise and fall. Lasting hope has to be anchored outside of this world.
Where does real hope come from? From Jesus, who entered our brokenness, bore our sin, died on the cross, rose again, defeated death, and now offers new life. God is called the God of hope.
Does Christian hope mean ignoring the brokenness around us? No. We don’t ignore it. We step into it as lights through love and good works, confident that God is at work and the story is not over.
What can I do today if I feel hopeless? Look to Jesus, spend time in His Word, pray honestly, and talk with other believers. If you’re in crisis, reach out to a trusted adult, pastor, or counselor right away.
